The legal basis for the use of is the Swiss Copyright Act (CopA) and the “Common Tariffs”.

The collecting societies negotiate tariffs on behalf of the legislator and authors. These tariffs regulate the conditions of use. Schools pay fees for the use of audiovisual and other works, regardless of the use of The Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education (EDK) acts as the user representative of schools and ensures the combined transfer of fees to the collecting societies.
